WhatsApp may soon allow you to hide your online status :- WhatsApp is working on a feature that will allow iOS users to hide their online status from everyone. As WABetaInfo reports, this feature will arrive in a future update, and it is already under development.
As you can see in this screenshot, thanks to two new options: “Everyone” and “Last seen”, it will be possible to configure when you can look online within the last seen settings Huh. For example, if you select “My Contacts” for “Last Seen” and “Last Seen Similar” for “Online,” this means non-contacts won’t be able to see it when you’re online.
“Last year, WhatsApp began automatically hiding last seen for contacts you’ve never chatted with, to prevent third-party apps from monitoring our last seen and online status Unfortunately, people we’ve already chatted with could still see when we were online. But thanks to the new privacy setting “Who can see when I’m online”, they can’t see it. Will not be able to do it anymore,” the report said.
This new privacy feature is being developed at the same time that WhatsApp is also rolling out another important function, the ability to edit a message. It’s been a long time since the app started letting users delete messages, but it never brought the ability to edit them which is eventually changing in a future update.
The ability to edit and delete messages is coming to yet another beloved messaging app: iMessage with iOS 16. Although it raised some controversy, being able to edit and delete a message can be very handy when you misspelled a word or sent incorrect information to a person in chat. WhatsApp is also reportedly working on a new feature that will allow users to appeal in case their account is blocked for any reason.
WhatsApp deletes or suspends accounts in bulk every day for users who do not comply with the platform’s terms and conditions. These messages can also be deleted through an automated system. Hence, there are chances that it may delete the accounts by mistake as well.
